A hairball now and then is part of a cat's life. But "now and then" is different from every week – and many owners get used to a frequency that would not actually have to be one.
Where the hair comes from in the first place
A cat spends up to a third of its waking time grooming. Its tongue is covered in backwards-facing barbs – what it catches, it cannot spit out. It is swallowed.
Most of it travels through the digestive tract normally and leaves the body unnoticed. It only becomes a problem when transport slows down: in long-haired cats, during shedding season, with little exercise, with too little structured fibre in the food.
Then the hair remains in the stomach, felts into a mass, and the body chooses the shorter way out.
A lubricant – malt paste, oil – helps in exactly one place: it makes the passage more slippery. It changes nothing about whether the gut moves the hair along at all.

Structure: Psyllium husks and microcrystalline cellulose give the gut content volume and hold. Fibre is not just fibre – this is not about satiety, but about transportability.
Gut flora: Inulin and fructooligosaccharides feed the existing bacteria. In addition, a microencapsulated probiotic strain authorised in the EU for cats.
Breakdown: A microencapsulated enzyme blend supports the splitting of food.
Cell protection: Omega-3 from salmon oil, plus a complete antioxidant system.
Two ingredients we removed again
The previous version of the formula contained ginger and camomile. Both sound like gentle digestive care, both appear in many products.
We removed both. The reason lies in the cat's liver: cats have considerably less capacity for glucuronidation – one of the most important pathways by which mammals break down and excrete plant compounds. What a cat takes in stays in the body longer than in a dog or human. That is why paracetamol is toxic for cats, and why we are fundamentally cautious with plant extracts for this species.
For the same reason, turmeric is included only in a very small amount, clearly below the EFSA reference value – as a supporting player, not the lead.
Why the probiotics go in last
The nano refinement with ultrasound happens before the living cultures are added. After that, ultrasound is forbidden, as are high shear forces – they would destroy exactly what you buy probiotics for.
That is why probiotics and enzymes are microencapsulated and gently stirred in at no more than 30 °C. The pH of the finished product is 5.8–6.2 – deliberately a little higher than in our other formulas, because living cultures prefer it that way.

The formula is thicker than our other products – that is the fibre, and it is meant to be that way.

Please keep this formula refrigerated at all times – before and after opening. The living cultures are the most sensitive part of the product; the culture count guaranteed on the label applies to refrigerated storage. Unopened, 12 months at 2–8 °C; after opening, 8 weeks. Do not freeze.
