What winter actually does to paw pads
The pad is the thickest layer of horn on the whole animal – but horn only stays elastic as long as it contains moisture and fat. Winter removes precisely these two.
Frozen ground and ice dry it out. Road salt and de-icing agents corrode the surface and open fine cracks. Dry, heated indoor air continues at home what the street began. The result is always the same: rough, hard, cracked pads that trap salt, dirt and granular snow. The animal limps, licks, chews – and the walk that was the highlight of the day becomes a burden.
A good balm can do three things here: return lost moisture, replace washed-out lipids, and form a protective layer before the next walk. Pfoten-Elixier™ does all three – and a fourth that conventional balms cannot.
Why a paw balm should be nano-liposomal
The classic paw balm is wax and oil. It sits on the surface and forms a film – it does not reach into the horn layer. In summer that is enough. In winter it is not.
Pfoten-Elixier™ is made with NanoLipoX™ technology: the care ingredients are enclosed in phospholipid spheres smaller than 200 nanometres. Phospholipids are the same building material that skin cell membranes are made of – so the horn layer does not treat them as foreign, it lets them in. The active ingredient does not stay on the surface but works where the crack forms.
That is why the cream is not a solid block of wax but a light, fast-absorbing emulsion. Minutes after massaging it in, it leaves no marks on the floor – and the protective film is still there.
Why this balm smells of nothing
Most paw-care products on the shelf are scented: lavender, tea tree, something fresh. We deliberately added none of it – because of cats.
A cat grooms itself. Whatever is on the pad ends up in the mouth sooner or later. Essential oils are a category of their own for cats: tea tree oil, citrus oils, eucalyptus, menthol, camphor – the feline liver cannot break them down. Dogs lick their paws too. A product made for both species can therefore only be one thing: fragrance-free.

How to use
Before the walk: massage a thin layer into the pads and the skin between them. The balm absorbs quickly; the protective layer stays. After the walk: rinse off the salt with lukewarm water, dry the paws and apply again – this step matters more than the one before the walk. For cracked pads, 2–3 times a day until the surface is smooth again.
For dogs and cats. For cats, an application 2–3 times a week is worthwhile because of dry indoor heating. Also suitable for the nose and elbows.
Packaging and shelf life
30 g in a glass jar with a black lid – the jar is refillable, glass and lid can be recycled separately. Shelf life 12 months unopened, use within 6 months of opening. Store in a cool, dry place.
